Hard Drive Recovery for any type, model or brand

Trusted Hard Drive (HDD) Data Recovery

Hard disk drives (HDD) store all of our critical business and personal files, from account records and contracts to digital photos of loved ones. Although the content on the failed hard disk drive(s) may differ greatly, the sense of shock and despair can be frighteningly similar. Fortunately Data Recovery has been pioneering HDD data recovery methods for nearly 30 years.

Hard drive recovery tip:

To ensure the most successful hard drive recovery, turn off your computer or storage device to minimise further damage.

We recover data

We recover data from all types of data storage

Data Recovery can recover files from any brand, model or make of hard drive. Our HDD Data Recovery services are recognised by major hard drive manufacturers and we are authorised by Western Digital, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Samsung and Toshiba to unseal hard disk drives for recovery without voiding the manufacturer’s warranty.

We recover data from all types of data loss

Our engineers classify hard drive data loss in two categories:

Logical Failure: The hard drive is in working order but some files or data cannot be accessed for reasons such as a lost partition, accidental reformatting, viruses, corrupt files, damaged files or accidental deletion of files.

Mechanical Failure: The hard drive is not functioning; the device is not turning on or it is not being read correctly. The most common causes are head crashes and motor failures. These failures are often characterised by strange grinding, scratching or clicking noises coming from the device.

Water Damaged Hard Drives

Tips For Hard Drive Data Loss - Water Damaged Hard Drives

If your hard drive experiences water damage, DO NOT TRY TO DRY IT OUT. Drying the hard drive can lead to corrosion and further data loss. Place the hard drive in an air tight zip lock bag and post it as soon as possible to our office for hard drive data recovery services.

Tips For Hard Drive Data Loss - Hard Drives That Are Making Noises

If your hard drive is making strange clicking or grinding noises turn it off immediately. This noise might be an indication that your drive has experienced a head crash and is not reading the data correctly and can result in permanent unrecoverable damage to your files.

If you have accidentally deleted files and you need to recover them then you may want to try our DIY data recovery software; you can download a free trial of the software that will tell you if your files are recoverable. If the files are recoverable, you may simply purchase the full license of the software to download the data.

We are trusted by hundreds of Australian organisations to recover encrypted data.

Your data is encrypted for a reason. Trust us to keep your data secure and private while it’s being recovered.

Security Protocols

Our engineers use strict data security protocols to ensure data privacy through all stages of the data recovery process in our Australian facilities. Your data is secure from the time we receive to the time we return it to you. We can encrypt your recovered data before its return.

Data Recovery requires that end users or administrators provide their encryption information (user key, password or pass-phrase) in order to recover encrypted data. Please be prepared to provide this information to your data recovery specialist in order to save time on our recovery.

Recovering Data From An Encrypted Hard Drive

Recovering from hard disk drives that are encrypted follows the same handling procedures as all other media. The process is outlined in the following high-level steps:

  1. Hard drive operation assessment
  2. Cleanroom escalation (as necessary when physical or electronics damage is present)
  3. Image drive data
  4. Secure original media
  5. Decryption process
  6. Repair file system
  7. Prepare data for delivery
  8. Encryption of data for delivery

Data Recovery Revolutionised The Decryption Process

Decryption on the fly

Our new “decryption-on-the-fly” process drastically reduces the time it takes to decrypt a drive and produces better results. This proprietary process scans only the portions of the drive which contain data. We can image more data in a shorter amount of time than the traditional process which significantly reduces your downtime.

Data Recovery requires a user key, password, pass-phrase, or encryption software key file in order to decrypt the data. Some companies may also utilize a challenge/response methodology for providing the decryption credentials for their environment. Our engineers will work with the provider of those credentials once we receive your media for recovery.

Check Your Organisation’s Security Policy

If providing any login credentials is against an organisation’s security policy, there are a few other options for data recovery. Data Recovery is able recover the data through our standard process in its encrypted form on a new piece of media. The data will remain encrypted until you receive it back and it is opened by someone with a key. Since Data Recovery is unable to produce a report of recoverable files, the customer will not know if we succeeded in recovering the critical data until they decrypt it.
